(Kiri defends the dress to be worn at
her father’s inauguration as being appropriate
despite its risqué design. We go over some of
what we could anticipate as to the function
and how the reaction to the dress might turn
                          out.)

 Russ: so how
                                  you been doing darling?

 Kiri: I’m doing good.

 Russ: getting ready for Sirius?

 Kiri: uh-huh.

Russ: it’s a little ways away.

Kiri: yeah, I’m going to wear a formal
                                  strapless dress with long white
gloves. I was going to do it in
emerald green. Why are you shaking
                                  your head?

Russ: oh I was just thinking, just a
mental picture of you in a strapless
                                  dress.

 Kiri: I will wear underwear.

 Russ: okay, just checking.

Kiri: but a strapless dress is
designed to be worn without a bra.

Russ: I know it's designed that way
which is why I was shaking my head.

 Kiri: uh-huh and that’s why I’m
                                  choosing it.

Russ: because you're not going to wear
                                  a bra.

Kiri: correct, I don’t like wearing
                                  hammocks.

Russ: oh like I’ve seen some of your
                                  bathing suits dear, they’re nothing
more than a few pieces of dental floss
and duct tape holding the whole thing
                                  together.

 Kiri: and they’re very successful.

 Russ: well yeah they're very
                                  successful, I’m not suggesting
anything more than what you design
                                  yourself.

Kiri: uh-huh, they’re not designed to
reveal more flesh, it’s to hide
                                  things.

Russ: well, why do you think I was
making that suggestion for dear? Just
to hide some things so that the
                                  president who is being inaugurated
would be in the best humor as
                                  possible.

 Kiri: strapless dresses are quite
                                  acceptable at formal functions. You
think I would go to such an important
event and be very silly and juvenile?
                                  I can be.

Russ: all I can do is I can just
                                  imagine your headlights coming on
                                  and…….

Kiri: do you think I don’t have that
emotional control or that I would not
                                  take precautions?

 Russ: it could get cold.

 Kiri: yes?

Russ: could be a cool breeze blows in
                                  through the door.

 Kiri: yes?

 Russ: there’s nothing emotional about
                                  it…..

 Kiri: uh-huh.

 Russ: it’s strictly a physical
                                  reaction.

 Kiri: because it’s cold.

 Russ: right.

Kiri: do you think I would be
                                  unprepared?

Russ: I just shook my head just
because I had a mental picture of what
it would be like for you to just
sitting there, formal function in the
                                  reception line and your headlights
come on. ”Hi, and you must
                                  be……uh.....uh...”

Kiri: there you go again, third
                                  dimensional male things.

Russ: well I’m sure sixth dimensional
                                  men have the same reactions.

Kiri: yes but they're a lot more
discrete about it and don’t advertise
                                  the fact.

 Russ: well I don’t either.

 Kiri: uh-huh, strapless dresses are
                                  very acceptable and worn quite
                                  frequently to formal events.

 Russ: of course.

Kiri: in fact I believe your late
Princess of Wales did quite a few
                                  times.

 Russ: I suppose, I haven't followed it
                                  much.

 Kiri: ohhhh.

Russ: I don't go to many formal
                                  things.

Kiri: well you have your first big one
                                  coming up on Sirius.

Russ: yeah, I think some practice.

 Kiri: uh-huh.
